Alex started College!
He will attend Dixie State College for the next 2 years while he continues to recover. He's doing great and once again learning to adapt to his situation. Since his hands/fingers still aren't fully functioning he is finding out there are some pretty big hurdles to jump over at College. Yesterday was a trying day, he went to take a test and since it wasn't available on line I got the opportunity to help him. I was so nervous, I didn't want to mark the wrong circle. lol - It was a multiple choice math test and he did all the problems in his head all I had to do was color in the A, B, C, D or E.
Alex attended Driving Instructions and he Passed - He will now be able to drive himself around - wahoo! This is exciting for all of us, now we just need to find him a car! His instructor, Dave from Southern Utah Driving School, said that he is a good driver, both mentally and physically. He had heard so much about Alex and said it was a pleasure to meet him, and that whatever Alex decides to do in his future he will be successful at it. I already knew that but its SO good to hear it from someone else. Lightning will not beat him! Kaleen aka Alex's mom

WOOO HOOO!! Driving again - there isn't anything more liberating, right? Congratulations!! I don't know about you, but I KNOW that I have moments when my brain feels fuzzy and I'm just not clear. I won't go anywhere when I'm feeling that way. Whatever your cognitive limitations, please be safe Alex!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to get one of those balls on your steering wheel - the kind that truckers used to (still?) use? Do you know what I mean? So you don't have to grasp the wheel? I KNOW they don't make them for a Charger, but I'm SURE they come standard in the Rubicon. (have I convinced you yet?!)
I hope you're enjoying school. My son (same age as you) is absolutely dumbfounded by the cost of the college textbooks. Kinda makes your nose bleed just thinking about it!
So Conner goes to his first class on Monday. He has his textbook, his iPad, his multitude of apps that give him access to any and all information on the world wide web, and what does the teacher do? She kicks it old school and requests that all students take out a piece of paper and a pencil - neither of which my son possessed. HA! Hope your first day was better!
I'm so proud of you! You are kicking a** and taking names. Lots of hugs from Idaho - for all!
