Some of our adventures included a Broadway show (Mary Poppins), Time Square shopping and restaurants, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and a subway ride to China Town, just to name a few.
We had a great time traveling with the Lambson/Talley family too; although things were hectic at times (with 11 of us traveling, hotel and flight issues...), I was so glad we were there together!
Being in New York for the interviews also made me think of Lara Eustermann and the interview she did on the Today show a few years ago. I'll never forget that morning, I was getting ready for work when her miraculous story came on the TV. I was so amazed that she had survived a lightning strike and I remember thinking how brave her mother was and how hard it must have been with Lara's two young children witnessing the strike. I was sobbing! Little did I know that in the not so distant future, we would be facing a similar situation with Dane and Alex.
I've included the link to Lara's interview for anyone that would like to watch it. She has been Alex and Dane's biggest fan and we can't thank her enough for her words of encouragement and her inspiration!

Love to you and your family Lara!
Leslie (Dane's mom)
I thought I should add to the awesome pictures that Kaleen posted yesterday :)
I am so glad that you ALL had a good time in NY! The pictures are fantastic and the smiles are priceless. Watching the interviews and seeing the footage is enough to unhinge my emotions. I cry EVERY time I see it! I can't figure out if I'm sad that it happened to you both or if I'm happy that you're getting better so quickly! Perhaps it's both, the confluence of which sends me spinning. (I appear to be a crazy cry-baby.)
ReplyDeleteI think that both Dane and Alex would be amazed by how many lives have been changed by this whole event! As a result of the two of you appearing on TV looking alive, alert and funny - someone watching has changed the direction of their life. You guys saved someone who was feeling like there was no hope, no chance of recovery and no way forward. Just think of the ripple you all just made!
You are amazing and I love you and am beaming with pride...... in addition to bawling again. (good grief)
I LOVED the video posted of Lara and her story! I have been so impressed with her! She's surely an inspiration and hope we can meet sometime. Lara, you've certainly made a horrific experience much better because of your humor and optimism and sage advice!
ReplyDeleteThe NYC trip seems like it was a great event for all. What fun to have such an experience!
Great job to all of you! Lots of love as well...Maybe Lara and her family can come down and enjoy a big birthday party in St. George in October when they boys celebrate their 1st birthday?
Lots of love!
Susan
