Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as this road will likely be a long one. Feel free to check back often for status updates on both Alex and Dane, and be sure and leave your well-wishes when you visit. The boys will be shown this blog when they are awake.

On the brighter side~

Well, we all made it through this past weekend.
After the service Dane went on his "day date" for SCHS Jr Prom. They went hiking and had a picnic out on the trail. Later that night a group of them went to prom together. Dane's step dad Tim was able to get them a stretch limo, from where he works, to drive them around for the night (I felt better about that).
Kendle, Dane's twin, headed back to the DSC campus where she was performing for the Utah Theater Association in a musical (that kept her very busy).
And Wyatt, the youngest went to hang out with his (hero) cousin Jake, who kept him entertained and took him golfing for the first time; Wyatt loved it!

Physically Dane is doing fantastic; his pancreas levels are normal, he is gaining weight, his legs don't ache as much (obviously...he went hiking :)) Now we just need to get a handle on the emotional side of things.

Life has been hard lately, not just for our families, but for a lot of people. All we can do is keep on moving forward, and appreciate love from the people around us. Things do get better with time :)

  1. Aren't you all a good looking group! (and that is one massive fireplace!) Your prom couldn't have come at a better time. What a great way to decompress from grieving, if only for a short time.

(My little brother died about six years ago. When I would become flooded with grief I would exercise until it subsided. I secretly credit my little brother with my physical condition, which saved my life when I was struck.)

You have a lot of people to lean on, Dane, if you need them. Your community sounds so supportive and protective of you. :)

I am pleased as punch that you're still gaining weight! It sounds like you're on a pretty good roll physically. More weight and less pain = life is good. You are always in my thoughts. Lots of virtual hugs being sent your way!
