Welcome friends and family of Alex and Dane!

This Blog has been created by friends and family of Alex and Dane as they make their way down the road to recovery, after being struck by lightning 10/5/2010. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as this road will likely be a long one. Feel free to check back often for status updates on both Alex and Dane, and be sure and leave your well-wishes when you visit. The boys will be shown this blog when they are awake.

We sincerely Thank You for your concern and friendship. Alex and Dane will always remember the support of friends and family like you.

2nd EEG

As I post this the EEG test is being done.  It will take about an hour.  Lets hope his Neurologist reads the report tonight and it is good. I'll post when I know.  He is having a good day - he got up 3 times today (with the help of others)

Its now 10pm - no news is good news.  Haven't received a report back on his test yet.  Hopefully early Saturday morning.  Today was a great day for Alex.  He remembered everything that was said to him today.  He took a long nap after his physical therapy.  He had a new PT Tech today.  He was a younger guy with a strong build.  After he helped get Alex into his chair, Alex said "Did you serve in the Military"  PTT says "Yes, the Navy"  Alex says "Can I shake your hand?"  At which time they did shake hands.  Alex honors our Soldiers and it was wonderful to witness this act of gratitude.  After the PTT left, I asked Alex how he knew he had served in our Military, he said "I could just tell".

  3. Hello to Dane, Alex and their friends and family. I am a 64-yrs old man in Eugene, OR. At the time Alex & Dane were struck by lightning, I was in right field in a HWSG softball game at Gubler Park. And, I saw the bolt of lightning, and counted the seconds to see how close it was: much too close for comfort. I thought the umpires should have called the games by then, and gotten us all out of harm's way. Then, I heard the sirens approaching, and began to pray that no one had been struck by the lightning bolt. Our game was called shortly after that time. Later we heard the sad news, and I have prayed daily since for the recovery of Dane & Alex. Thanks so much for setting up this blog. Just look how many page views are accumulating! Many prayers are thus generated, and God hears them. May God bless your boys with full recoveries. Mike M.
