Welcome friends and family of Alex and Dane!

This Blog has been created by friends and family of Alex and Dane as they make their way down the road to recovery, after being struck by lightning 10/5/2010. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as this road will likely be a long one. Feel free to check back often for status updates on both Alex and Dane, and be sure and leave your well-wishes when you visit. The boys will be shown this blog when they are awake.

We sincerely Thank You for your concern and friendship. Alex and Dane will always remember the support of friends and family like you.

Thanks for all your comments!!!! Each one is read - They are SO encouraging - SO appreciated .  Dane got to visit with Alex a few times yesterday and while he was in Alex's room we talked about the love and support everyone is showing them. They are aware of your love and prayers.  Please know that your prayers are being answered, but on Gods time line.  They are getting better!!! But it will take time.  There are so many students and friends that want to visit and we are grateful for your desire to do so.  However, Alex isn't up to visitors right now.  He needs to remain calm until his next EEG which should be Wednesday. Dane is in a different situation so he might be up for visitors, contact his parents through the hospital.  In order to visit you have to make it past Security through locked doors, so don't try to sneak in - lol.  Alex asked the nurses yesterday what the fastest way out of here was, so once hes "up" I'm sure he will text you and give you direction on how to sneak in and out the fastest way.
Thanks again - Kaleen, AKA Alex's mom

  1. Kaleen, are you getting any sleep? I noticed your post was very early this morning! Here's to a good day today - our thoughts and prayers are not only for those amazing boys, but also for their great parents. Lots of love.

  2. I am hoping we can get a reprise of Alex's performance of Happy Birthday. I'm on Alex's side about the water. If you're thirsty, Alex, don't give up! Love and kisses to you all. (I'm kidding Alex--rehearse in your head a good debate about giving patients water after a lightning strike). BE CALM and heal for all of us!

    Lots of love, Auntie Suze

  3. It is so wonderful to hear that the boys are healing so quickly! They have been in our prayers daily. Thank you for keeping us all up to date on their progress.
It has been so incredible to see the youth, of all ages, pulling together to fast, prayer and fund raise for the boys!
Tell the boys how much they are missed here at SCHS...We miss seeing them debate in the library!
As a parent-my heart goes out to you! hang in there. You are also in our prayers.

  4. Kaleen, Thank you so much for the updates. Keep hanging in there. What great friends and family you have. Once his wounds start getting better, hopefully, he will have a huge recovery. He seems very determined to make that happen. Miss ya...

  5. Kaleen, we are coming down to Vegas on Thursday. Let me know if there is anything or anyone you want us to bring with us that/whom you may need. We are staying overnight. Please let us know how we can help.

Alex, I heard about your Taco Bell story. It inspired me and made me laugh. I think that was the first time I laughed yesterday. Thank you for that. It lightened my heart.

Dane, Glad to hear you're able to make some phone calls and keep in touch. Continue to get better. When you and Alex get home we are going to have a celebration like none other. Love you guys.

  6. Kaleen,
Thanks for keeping up on this blog. It is nice to be able to keep up with the progress. You are a strong woman and we are praying for you and your family. My little Dallin prays every night to "help those boys that got struck by lightning".

  7. Kaleen,
I dont know either of your boys but my nephew goes to Snow Canyon with them and witnessed the tragic event that has lead to this blog. I live here in Vegas and was wondering where you are staying to get rest. My son did his Eagle project last year at the Ronald McDonald House here in Vegas and I was amazed at the facilaty and all that it offers. You can stay there for I believe $10 a night and this includes some meals. Dont know if this is something you need or not but I am attaching the info just in case. Our prayers are with you and your families as well as all the students that witnessed this and are dealing with worrying about Alex and Dane.

  9. Hi-- this is Coach Bentley I have been following the amazing progress Alex and Dane have made and know the Lord is with them. We are really missing Alex at the practices and meets and I want him to know we all wore stickers with his name on them at the region meet yesterday. Both teams ran very well. We took second in both races so we get to go to state again this year. We will keep Alex updated on how things go at state. There are meet pictures on facebook when Alex is feeling like looking at them. And we can't wait for him to come home so we can all get together and run golf course with him. I can see why Alex is fighting the restraints. It is totally against his nature to be held down by anything. All of the fighting is making him stronger though.
Tell Alex we are all thinking of him.
