Hi - this is Alex's mom. Its Friday 4:30am Vegas time. First I want to THANK everyone for ALL the support that has been shown to these 2 amazing boys. THANK you to the "First Response" people, without your quick efforts our Alex and Dane wouldn't be here. YOU saved their lives!! When I get back to STG I want to personally thank each of you that preformed CPR. Thank you STG City Rescue Team, IHC and UMV. These employees have gone far beyond their "job" responsibilities to help our boys. Thanks to ALL the students for the out pouring of love and support. So many thanks to give!!!!! Students and the Community - Your prayers are being answered.
Yesterday Alex and Dane were both taken off Life Support. Prior to Dane being taken off he was writing messages back and forth to his parents. Alex can talk now that the tubes are out of his mouth, he keeps saying he wants to go home. A conversation yesterday between him and his nurse...Nurse: "Whats your name?" Alex: "Alex" Nurse: "How old are you?" Alex: "Seventeen" Nurse: "What are your brothers names?" Alex: "Kiel, Jordan, Parker" Nurse: "Do you know where you are?" Alex: "Stuck in this bed"!!!!!!!!!!! He's got a lot of fight in him. He and Dane will both be fine.
Keep praying. Miracles DO happen!!! Thanks again for the support!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome friends and family of Alex and Dane!
We sincerely Thank You for your concern and friendship. Alex and Dane will always remember the support of friends and family like you.

We do not know you but wanted you to know both boys are in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI laughed and cried when I read the conversation Alex had with the nurse. I am so sorry this happened. Please tell Alex that I miss him and I can't wait to talk to him again one of these days. Tell him Shaw says “Father in heaven has important jobs for brilliant young men. Listen to the prophet’s talk pleading for every young man to serve a mission and recognize that your life being spared is an answer to the prayers of many. If your work was done you wouldn’t be here. I love you Alex.”
ReplyDeleteFrom one Mom to another I can only say my heart goes out to you and the other family and friends of these two boys. What a frightening thing to have happen. You will be continually in my thoughts - may Alex and Dane continue to improve and be home with you all very shortly!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful it is to hear of Alex's progress. The entire community is sending positive energy with prayer and thought. These boys are on everyone's mind. Thank you so much for posting. It's nice to get news from the family rather than the press. I wish both family peace as you all recover from this trauma.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad both boys are doing so well. They will remain in our prayers until they are home and safe again.
ReplyDeleteI among others that responded to this call are very excited to know the boys are doing sooo well. They have been in many thoughts and many more prayers. My prayers are not only for these boys but for the officers, the firefighters, and last but not least the Emts that responded, they had a stress debriefing for them last night.
ReplyDeleteIts great to know that Alex is well enough to be making smart comments to the nurse and its even better to know that he still has his aggressive attitude towards life. Micheal, Haden and I have already decided that this whole event probably gave him superpowers, so we are all really excited to see how that works. Anyway, good luck with recovering and I cant wait to see you back at school again. we need to play reach...I've been practicing ;).

Anonymous - Thank you and PLEASE tell the others that the UMC Pediatric ICU Trauma Doctors were very specific in that YOU all saved their lives - this whole thing would be different if your response had been one minute later. THANK you.
ReplyDeleteDShaw - he moaned when I read your name - I bet he is wanting Stacey to make him cookies - lol
Others - Thank you from Kaleen - Alex's mom
I am so glad to here that Alex is getting better. I got a good laugh from the conversation. It is good to know that he is the same Alex that I had when he was in 8th grade. Wishing for the best for you and your families.
ReplyDeleteAlex, you and Dane really had us scared. We have been praying for both of you non-stop. Last night our youth group at church help a special prayer session for you both. I know you will be back to your normal self soon. Ryan is missing his XBox partner. And you will be missed this weekend at the debate tourney. Sam revised her oratory because she's talking about the ups and downs of life. You may be a bit down right now, but I know there's know way of keeping you down. And when you get home...we're gonna hava PARTY!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know you either but do live here in St. George... As a mother I could not imagine anything like this happening to my children, yet alone anyone! Lightning? Man what are the chances? I cried when I heard that you two boys are on your way to leading back to your normal lives! Hang in there! There must be a reason you were spared! You must have great things left to accomplish on this earth! My prayer and love go out to you and to your families...
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping up the blog... My son Zack is on the debate team, he has been worried and is glad to know that Alex and Dane are getting better! Our hearts and prayers are with you.

I could not figure out how to add my name to this, so I have to do it the old fashioned way. This is RyanTommer commenting and it's great to hear about how well they are doing, we are constantly praying for them. If they are still in the hospital when we come to Vegas next week, would you like me to bring Alex his 360? I'm sure it will help him feel much better ;)
