Alex drank water today!! Wahoo!!!! He was able to drink water through a straw then he moved onto apple juice and some ice cream. He's doing great. Not great enough for surgery tomorrow though. Skin grafts will be done on Monday. They also postponed his EEG until Friday. So its more waiting......
He's remembering things from one hour to the next and moved his big toe on his left foot. Good things are happening. When he took his first sip of water he said "this is the best water I've ever had".
Life is Good! Remember life's simply pleasures :)
Welcome friends and family of Alex and Dane!
We sincerely Thank You for your concern and friendship. Alex and Dane will always remember the support of friends and family like you.

I am so happy to hear that Alex was able to drink today. And we are thrilled to know that he was able to move his toe. Every day we take for granted things as simple as taking a drink or moving a toe without realizing how blessed we are to be able to do it. This story has touched our hearts because it has shown how quickly life can change and we should be thankful for "life's simple pleasures". You are in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteWe feel like we left something at UMC...you and Alex. You know my heart & prayers are with you-
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Alex.. I am glad that you were able to finally get your water! We love you and you are in our prayers! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have been keeping up every day with this blog, and our daughter, Mrs. Delsy Nielson, your debate teacher. Our prayers have been with you every day. You have no idea how many people are thinking of and praying for you. At the St. George Family History Center, where I am a missionary, they have had special prayers for you, and talked about you. You will be back with all of your friends, and the debate team, before you know it. This has been a true miracle!

I am a parent of two Snow Canyon High School students. Though I don't know either Dane or Alex personally, this story has affected our whole family. We realize this could be any of us. We have been praying for both boys and thinking of them daily. I was in tears watching a group of kids, my two included, leave for school the day after it happened, dressed in their "Sunday best" to show their support and love for both Alex and Dane. We hope that Alex will soon be home, and are so happy to know that Dane is back here with us. Hope you can feel our strength.
ReplyDeleteKaleen I am so thrilled to hear that Alex is improving. That is great that he was able to drink water and also that he moved his left toe!! I have been checking the blog every day. Jonathon asks me for updates all the time. We are praying for you guys!! -Jen
ReplyDeleteKaleen, I just read your mom's e-mail informing us of the accident. I will forward the news to Ann tonight (You're still her all-time favorite seminary student). We haven't seen Alex since he was a toddler, nor do we know Dane. But please be assured they are in our prayers, and you are too. Keep that Linneer chin up, ok?
ReplyDeleteOur love,
Ed & Ann Lauritsen
It has been so great to hear of the improvements in both Alex and Dane. We are so grateful that they received help so quickly after the strike and that they continue to receive good care now. We know that everyone is praying for their quick recoveries and I am sure God must be listening. Thanks for the blog. It's great to see updates on their progress. Love, Pete, Aeme and Family
