Welcome friends and family of Alex and Dane!

This Blog has been created by friends and family of Alex and Dane as they make their way down the road to recovery, after being struck by lightning 10/5/2010. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as this road will likely be a long one. Feel free to check back often for status updates on both Alex and Dane, and be sure and leave your well-wishes when you visit. The boys will be shown this blog when they are awake.

We sincerely Thank You for your concern and friendship. Alex and Dane will always remember the support of friends and family like you.

Update from Dane's Dad

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't been too good at communicating. I'm usually so outgoing and chatty this must be very shocking (LMAO, ahhh, I crack myself up sometimes). Seriously though, I want to thank everyone who's called and texted, I really appreciate all the prayers and thoughts. Rockie for dropping everything and treating Dane like he was her own son, Archie and everyone at Outback, Cole, Chris F, Jess O & H, Rebecca, Jordan, Sariah, and on and on. I know I'm gonna forget someone and feel bad, but i really appreciate it. The outpouring of support has been amazing. Especially among the High School students from ALL the St George and surrounding areas. I've been hearing the stories of the things they've put together, their rooms are overflowing with stuff students and other members of the community have brought down here. Unfortunately they haven't been able to see much of it yet. Dane is still pretty out of it, but he's off all life support now and doing everything on his own. Actually even got to eat a little bit today. He can't stay awake for more than 10 or 15 mins at a time, but he's coherent and knows what’s up. I think at this point he's mostly worried abt Alex. Back to the thank you's though, I REALLY want to thank the people at Snow Canyon HS, students and faculty who witnessed the accident and responded. Whoever it was who administered CPR to the boys ABSOLUTELY SAVED THIER LIVES!!!!! They would not have survived without the effective CPR, PERIOD!!! Dane arrived at the hospital after 20 or 30 mins in full arrest, he had no heart function at all. The only thing that kept blood moving through his body was the CPR. You guys are heroes in my book. I apologize, this is one long run on sentence and I'm sure some of it is out there. LoL, I'm not livin on a lot of sleep. Thanks again to everyone. A lot of miraculous things had to happen for them to be able to live through this and they did. Crazy huh? The odds have to be astronomical. Keep the prayers coming!!

  2. Hello, My name is Dallin Wilson. I am a junior at snow canyon. I run Cross Country with Alex and I've known Dane ever since Elementary school. on Oct. 5 right before the accident I was saying hi to them as i was going inside to change for Cross Country. As i walked inside i heard the big boom and ran back out to find Alex and Dane on the ground. Another student and I checked for their pulses and when the faculty ran out we helped carry them inside. in a swift course of action the faculty members, Mr. Brooks, Mr. Hurt, Mr. Golly, Mr. Hansen, Mr. Kerr, and Officer Brown Started CPR on them. Alex and Dane couldn't have been in better hands. The faculty members at the school are the best of the best. They were Quick to respond and handled the situation in the best way that would help Alex and Dane most Efficiently.
I wanted to let you(parents of Alex and Dane)know how strong these fine young men are. They are always so nice to everyone and I've always looked up to them. They have meant so much to me and when I saw them outside my heart stopped. So, I am so grateful to know that they are doing good. I've been praying like crazy for them and I hope their progress keeps positively increasing. Tell Alex and Dane I love them both and they are in my thoughts and Prayers. Best Wishes to All of you. DALLIN WILSON

  5. This has had so much impact on a lot of people. This world is such a crazy place right now and it is so nice to see everyone coming together to wish your boys well. It is truly a very humbling experience. I have a daughter who attends Snow Canyon and I know that she is concerned for these boys too. She doesn't know them personally but this will forever set deep in her heart. Our family wishes you well and we will keep you in our prayers and thoughts. There is a lot of love circling you right now. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

  6. Leslie, I am so glad to hear that the rainbow we seen on the fifth had as special a meaning for you as it did us. Rainbows have always been a symbol of better things to come in our family. I too stopped and took a picture of that rainbow for Amanda and when I called to tell her that there was a perfect double rainbow out she said, "Oh good...one for Alex and one for Dane." Thank you for sharing. You are such a neat mom. Our prayers are with you and your family, we look forward to having Dane back over for dinner!
    Love, Cindy and Amanda

  7. Hey Chris, been keeping you and Rockie and of course your son Dane in my thoughts and prayers. I try to imagine what this might be like to go through and it's impossible to even imagine. I'm so sorry, and I'm so thankful you didn't lose him. I saw that there's a benefit concert at Tuacahn next week. We'll be there. :-) Stay strong.
