Welcome friends and family of Alex and Dane!

This Blog has been created by friends and family of Alex and Dane as they make their way down the road to recovery, after being struck by lightning 10/5/2010. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as this road will likely be a long one. Feel free to check back often for status updates on both Alex and Dane, and be sure and leave your well-wishes when you visit. The boys will be shown this blog when they are awake.

We sincerely Thank You for your concern and friendship. Alex and Dane will always remember the support of friends and family like you.

No place like home....

Good Morning Everyone, I haven't posted for a while because I have been logging on with a hospital computer in a Pediatric Unit (you can imagine the parental control issues) and also it is very slow. So Kaleen was kind enough to let me use her computer :)
Dane has been improving everyday and is to the point that the Physical Therapists have him up and walking a couple of times a day, he is eating solid foods, has been watching DVDs (House) and has been on the computer to check his Facebook page (he was surprised by all the friend requests...) He is very thankful for all of the support and prayers and is very much looking forward to going home!!! At the same time, he does not want to leave without Alex. He is very concerned about him and feels bad that Alex isn't able to be more comfortable yet.
We are looking forward to thanking, in person, all of the people involved in the initial rescue. You made sure our boys would be able to come home to us. We can't even express our gratitude. And all of you following their progress, Friends, Family, Community, you have kept us strong through all of this.
God Bless!

  2. Leslie, we are so thrilled to hear that Dane is up and around a little. God has really heard and answered our prayers. It will be a sweet day when get this little group of friends all back together. Amanda has missed them terribly. Give Dane a hug from us and let him know we look forward to his continued improvements. Our prayers are with Alex at this time also that he will continue in his recovery and be up and around soon also. These wonderful boys are in our thoughts continually. God bless you all.

  3. Thank you for making this blog. Although I do not know these boys personally, I have friends that do. I'm a pineview parent and have been following their progression. Such amazing grace and prayers that have been answered. Just to let you know ALL of St.George is pullin for both Dane and Alex. Everywhere you go, people are talking about them...please read this to them. I think it's important for them to know that "strangers" are keeping them in their prayers.

  6. I am so happy to see him making such amazing progress. Dane has alot of strength and fight in him, and his awsome personality easily prevails over lightning. I can't wait to have him back at school, and have all the worries over with. Your an awsome Debater, and an amazing (long-time) friend. Thank you for all your updates, without them I would be freaking out. You don't know how much the updates mean to me!

  7. The benefit concert for Dane and Alex will be on Monday October 18 at 7 pm at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre. Tickets are just $10 each and can be purchased on the Tuacahn website at: www.tuacahn.org All seats are reserved so buy yours today! This is a great way to raise funds for both boys to help with their medical expenses. Students from all five area high schools and Dixie College will perform, plus some of the cast from Tuacahn's Tarzan. Those who helped save the boys will be honored, including those who gave CPR, the medical first responders, the hospital ER staff and the life flight people. A great cause for two great kids!

  9. It has been a long road for both boys and will continue to be an even longer road for them. The boys, their mother's(who give unrelentingly), the father's who worry without trying to show it, have all been in my prayers. I saw Alex the night they brought him in...oh...how my heart sank to see him that way, but even then he had so much fight in him. I just knew(in my heart) he would come back...he had to heal. When I went to see him in the PICU I was relieved to see he was doing much better. Yet still I kept praying he would come back the way I had always known him. Alex is an extraordinary young man, very intelligent & full of determination. When I walked in to the burn unit Tuesday early evening and he greeted me like he alway had in the past I knew he had fought long and hard to come back to us all. God has definitly answered my prayers and I will keep on prayin that Alex's skin grafts take without infection, that he will get to go home soon and back to doing the things he loves. I read this blog every day to know how both boys are doing. I am sadened to here Dane is having more complications. They will both remain in my prayers. I love Alex...
